Our Rarities

This page exists to walk new and returning customers through some of the finer details of our proxies and helps explain what sets ValueTCG apart from the competition and why we should be the shop of choice for all of your proxy / orica needs!

Quarter Century Secret Rare (QCSR)

The (+) in the title denotes a more cost-effective alternative to the version without the (+) - think of it as the extra value version, or “+ value”. Both versions are beautiful but the (+) version lacks the stamped card name, the color is not quite as deep, and the text not quite as crisp. The (+) series of cards are made with the cost-conscious shopper in mind who is less fussed about details. Our Secret (+) cards tend to be some of our best sellers.

1. Card Name: Gold Stamp

Our QCSR cards have a golden shatterfoil stamp for the card name.

*ValueTCG is the only YGO proxy shop with this capability. Other proxy shops simply print the name onto the card with a yellow font.

2. Art Box: Partially Holographic

The holographic foil is not visible beneath the foreground of the card art. Most other proxy shops leave the entire art box holographic, making the art detail difficult to see and the cards appear less authentic.

3. Text Box: Not Holographic

Similarly to #2 above, text boxes are not holographic or shiny. Many other proxy shops do not mask the foil in the text box, leaving the text box holographic and the text difficult to read.

4. 25th Anniversary Logo / Stamp

Our QCSR cards feature a subtle off-color print of the Yu-Gi-Oh! 25th Anniversary celebration logo. This logo is printed onto the card in a light shade to not interfere with the text in the textbox.

5. Gold Sticker

QCSR cards feature a small golden shatterfoil square in the bottom right corner of the card, mimicking the gold “Eye of Anubis” sticker on authentic cards. For avoidance of doubt, this golden square on our cards is a plain gold shatterfoil (no “Eye of Anubis” or logo).

Secret (+) Rare

Secret Rare

1. Card Name: Platinum / Rainbow Stamp

Our Secret Rare cards have a platinum or rainbow stamp for the card name.

*Few YGO proxy shops are able to create this Secret Rare card name text stamp. Our competitors with this capability charge over $20/card.

2. Attribute & Level Stars: Holographic

We ensure the card attribute (in this example, the X icon) and monster level stars are holographic on our Secret Rare cards with the same diagonal-line Secret Rare foil effect.

3. Art Box: Partially Holographic

The holographic foil is not visible beneath the foreground of the card art. Most other proxy shops leave the entire art box holographic, making the art detail difficult to see and the cards appear less authentic.

4. Text Box & Card Frame: Not Holographic

1. Card Name: Holographic / Shiny

Our Secret (+) Rare cards have a shiny card name but it is not a stamped card name. The name is created by allowing the underlying secret rare holographic foil to shine through the card, resulting in a more subtle holographic effect. The diagonal lines of the secret rare foil are visible in the card name as well.

We note that while this is a cost-saving measure compared to foil stamping, this approach to creating a holographic/shiny card name is still a step up versus most Yu-Gi-Oh! proxy shops who simply print the card name directly onto the card in white text.

This is the primary difference between our Secret and Secret (+) rarity.

2. Attribute & Level Stars: Holographic

Much like our Secret rares, we ensure the card attribute (in this example, the Trap icon) and monster level stars (not visible in this example) are holographic on our Secret (+) Rare cards. The holographic foil is the same diagonal-line pattern as the rest of the Secret Rare foil.

3. Art Box: Partially Holographic

The holographic foil is not visible beneath the foreground of the card art. Most other proxy shops leave the entire art box holographic, making the art detail difficult to see and the cards appear less authentic.

4. Text Box & Card Frame: Not Holographic

Similarly to #3 above, text boxes and card frames/borders are not holographic or shiny. Many other proxy shops do not mask the foil in places where it is not supposed to be, thereby causing the cards to appear less authentic. Not masking the holographic foil in the text box especially causes the text to be difficult to read.

5. Eye of Anubis / Gold Sticker

Our Secret (+) Rare cards feature a holographic square in the bottom right corner, mimicking the “Eye of Anubis” on authentic cards. For clarity, there is not a sticker or stamp on the card, but the Yu-Gi-Oh! Logo / Eye of Anubis is printed on the card and made to be holographic using the same Secret Rare diagonal holographic foil found on the rest of the card.
